Southern Tier Physical Therapy Associates
Facilities
STPTA has two
convenient and well equipped offices serving both Eastern and
Western Broome County as well as Tioga County and Northern
Pennsylvania.
The Binghamton office is located at 17 Charles Street, one block
east of Jarvis.
The Vestal office, which consists of nine thousand square feet
in the lower level of the medical complex located at 200 Front
Street, includes a 7000 gallon heated therapeutic pool. This office
is accessible from either Front Street or RT 434. The
STPTA entrance is on the North end
of the building.
Both locations offer ample parking and are handicap accessible.

What to Bring
What to bring to your first appointment. Please bring your
prescription provided to you by your referring physician, written
referral/authorization if required by your insurance carrier, your
insurance card(s) for primary and/or secondary insurances and your
copay/coinsurance. Copays/coinsurance is expected at the time of
each visit.
What to wear?
Bring comfortable clothing. Shorts may be appropriate especially for
evaluation of the lower extremities (i.e. feet, knees) although we
do have gowns that can be used. Participation in aqua therapy would
require a towel and bathing suit or shorts/shirt for in the pool.
Equipment
STPTA utilizes an array of
testing, cardiovascular and strengthening equipment including Lido
and Cybex isokinetic machines, treadmills, stair climbers, bikes,
Eagle equipment, UBE's, elliptical trainers, pulleys, Gravitrons,
Total Gyms and a BTE Work Simulator in the treatment and
rehabilitation of its patients. The Binghamton facility has a
full line of Quantum BIO.ACR-lever controlled resistance equipment.
Other modalities include electrical stimulation, ultrasound,
interferential, iontophoresis, TENS, traction and
flexion-distraction tables, whirlpools, moist heat, and cryotherapy.
Therapeutic Pool
STPTA offers the area's only
on-site Aqua-Therapy program in the 7000 gallon heated, therapeutic
pool located in the Vestal facility. The pool is maintained at 92-94
degrees and has two water levels and a Foxx two person Buddy Seat.
The buoyancy, movement, and resistance of the warm water attribute
to the benefits of aqua-therapy. Showers and dressing areas are
provided.
