Osteoporosis
Southern Tier Physical Therapy Associates (STPTA) is pleased to inform
you about our services for those patients suffering from osteoporosis.
How Physical Therapy Can Help? The goal of physical therapy in
treating osteoporosis is to restore mobility, function, strength and
confidence and to enhance the safety and security of your everyday life.

Treatment:
Exercise. Weight bearing exercise and strength training
are essential in the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis. Exercise
is fundamental in slowing the progression of osteoporosis. Our PT's will
custom design a safe and effective exercise program to meet your needs,
whatever your age and physical condition. Posture and body mechanics.
Good posture can't prevent osteoporosis but it may help minimize the
effects of the disease.
STPTA utilizes state of the art modalities and exercise equipment in
their conveniently located Vestal facility, including the 7,000 gallon
heated, therapeutic pool.
Most insurances are accepted, including Medicare, plus a nominal
copay.
If you already have osteoporosis or you are highly at risk, your
family physician or specialist can make a referral to our office for
evaluation and treatment. Note: physician referral is required.
